SS #670 Modifications:
Shocks and struts
|
I ordered SS #670 with the Bilstein Y2Y suspension package but after
about 50K miles I decided it was time for an upgrade and bought a
set of Koni Sport dual adjustable struts and shocks. The part
numbers are 8242-1005 SP1 for the front and 8242-1006 SP1 for the
rear.

Installation notes
-
The front struts are a pain in the ass to install because you have
to pop the upper steering knuckle loose, remove the strut assembly
and use a spring compressor. The rears are totally easy and can
probably be swapped without even jacking the car up!
-
The first set of rear shocks I received was defective; they would
puke oil whenever the rebound was adjusted. Koni warranted them no
problem but I did have to pay return shipping for the defective
units.
Summary
I'm always amazed at the improvement an excellent set of shocks
make. These give my SS more grip while cornering and make it respond
faster to steering input. If I had known then what I do now, I would
have skipped the Y2Y suspension upgrade and spent the money on Koni
DA's!
